Corona Poling of PMMA Based Thin Films Doped by Oxy and Carboxy Derivatives of [2,2]Paracyclophane

Results of field corona poling experiments on thin film of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) polymer doped with molecules of substituted [2,2]paracyclophane are presented. Namely hydroxy/metoxy and formyl/ketone de-rivatives of [2,2]paracyclophane with different mutual orientation of the substituents were studied. The maximum value of second order NLO susceptibility chi((2))(- 2 omega; omega, omega) of 72.2 +/- 7.2 p.m./V measured at 1064.2 nm fundamental wavelength was observed for phenyl substituted molecule. X-Ray structure and absorption spec-troscopy data as well as quantum chemical calculations were engaged for the discussion of the values obtained.
