Persistent current effects in highly homogeneous superconducting magnets

•Persistent current effects in highly homogeneous magnet have been reported firstly.•The persistent current models of a single wire and solenoids are both simulated.•More obvious hysteresis phenomena for tesseral harmonic components are predicted.•The magnetization model of a single wire has been validated by measurement.•Persistent current model for a 7 T superconducting magnet has been validated by cold test.
