INTERDISCIPLINARY INTEGRATION OF SCIENCE AND ART IN THE STUDY PROCESS

To promote education for sustainable development, various innovative approaches are highlighted, including an interdisciplinary approach that contributes to the development of skills and the acquisition of integrated knowledge, which are prerequisites for a sustainable future. The article is part of the creative process for the Free Cells - Innovation at the Crossroads of Art and Science pilot project. The study, which took place in 2020/2021, involved eight students from different scientific fields, who we wanted to sensitize to sustainable development with innovative approaches that promote dialogue, critical thinking and problem solving. We conducted a case study in which we also collected data through a semi-structured interview with students from different scientific fields. Based on the collected data, we found that the interdisciplinary approach contributed to the complexity of understanding sustainability and, at the same time, encouraged participants to find creative and innovative visual solutions. The conducted research will help to promote the orientation towards education for sustainable development of the public.
