Synthesis of single-phase Sr1-xBaxF2 solid solutions by co-precipitation from aqueous solutions

Powders of Sr1-xBaxF2 (x = 0–1) solid solutions were synthesised by co-precipitation from aqueous solutions. The existence of single-phase ranges of (x = 0–0.60, x = 0.95–1.00) and two-phase (x = 0.7–0.9) Sr1-xBaxF2 solid solutions was revealed. When Ba concentration was increased, the crystal habitus of Sr1-xBaxF2 particles changed from submicron-sized lamellar to micron-sized cubic. The lattice parameters of the solid solution and the position of the Raman band revealed a linear dependence on the composition, which makes it possible to deliberately change the physicochemical properties of the powders.
