Pyrolysis and combustion of Russian mixed sludge and subsequent gaseous emissions: Analysis and kinetic modeling

•Pyrolysis and combustion experiments were performed on an actual Russian mixed sludge.•Kinetic modeling was performed using the Extended Independent Parallel Reaction model.•For pyrolysis, the five activation energies lie between 78 and 231 kJ/mol.•The activation energy associated with the char combustion is found equal to 280 kJ/mol.•Gaseous emissions during combustion experiments well superimpose with mass loss rates.
