Investigation on a new scheme for the transient simulation of the research pulsed reactor

In some Research Pulsed Reactor, the homogenization region is small and its spectrum is greatly affected by the leakage, which may lead to errors by traditional computational scheme. Thus, in this paper, based upon the pointwise cross sections, we use an equivalent 1D cylinder geometry in the lattice calculation to obtain spatial homogenized micro-cross sections. The few-group cross sections are then condensed by the spectrum obtained by the whole core calculation with the equivalent R-theta-Z model. In addition, the three-dimensional transport kinetic solver is coupled with the single channel flow model and the 1D radial heat conduction model for the fuel rod. The simulation of the two pulse transient cases of Xi'an Pulsed Reactor indicates that the results obtained by the code agree well with the experimental values and the computational cost is acceptable, which corroborates the accuracy and efficiency of the calculation scheme designed by this work.
