摘要

•Cleanest atmosphere over Bohai and Yellow Sea for recent decade was found during COVID-19 lockdown.•AOD dropped by 22% and 28% during lockdown periods compared to historical AOD records.•AOD decrease was caused by reduction of anthropogenic aerosols in Chinese mainland during lockdown.•After restrictions were lifted, AOD rebounded as the human-emitted aerosols increased.
