I read with great interest the recent article by Kagaya, Tabata et al. regarding their investigation into the feasibility and efficacy of cardiac auscultation training in first-year medical students at the Tohoku University School of Medicine in Japan [ [1] Kagaya Y. I wish to offer a United Kingdom medical student's perspective on this study, as well as focus on the authors' call for further research to determine if beginning training in cardiac auscultation earlier is sustainable.
