摘要
•Obtaining a targeted needs assessment adheres to a scholarly approach in developing a standardized robotic surgery training curriculum.•Assessing resident and faculty perceptions in parallel may contribute to improved curriculum implementation and adherence.•Preferred learning strategies included bedside assist training, console skills training, practice of fundamental skills, and procedure-based simulation.•Cholecystectomy, ventral hernia repairs, inguinal hernia repairs, gastric sleeve resections, right and left colectomy/sigmoidectomy are considered appropriate cases for robotic surgery training.•Residents and faculty preferred different learning strategies, which reinforces Kern's scholarly approach in gathering various perspectives in developing a needs assessment.
