32023 The use of patient-marketed dermoscopes in dermatology practice

There are new dermoscopes that are targeting laypeople, are designed to connect directly to patients’ smart phones, and cost $100 USD. There are limited data on how patients are using these devices. This survey-based project was designed to evaluate how patient-marketed dermoscopes are being used. The Mayo Clinic IRB deemed this study exempt. A link for a survey was sent to a manufacturer of patient-marketed dermoscopes to forward to their customers who had purchased this device. An initial email was sent on 12/2/2020 with a reminder email 6 weeks later.
