Performance of an axial inlet cyclone separator and the programming design of guide vanes

•A new cyclone is designed by inserting expanding section above particle exit tube.•The separation efficiency can reach over 80% for fine particles.•Programming language is used to calculate guide vane parameters automatically.•Key parameters are quickly output after typing the design requirements.
