Constructing CNT@NiCo Texture Anchoring Pt Nanoparticle Catalyst for Highly Efficient Methanol Electrocatalytic Oxidation

In this paper, CNT@NiCo-s (Carbon nanotube@NiCo-sheet) and CNT@NiCo-g (Carbon nanotube@NiCo-granular) composite carriers were prepared by two special methods. After that, the Pt nanoparticles were loaded on the surface of these composite supports by the sodium borohydride (NaBH4) reduction method to obtain Pt/CNT@NiCo-s and Pt/CNT@NiCo-g. Cyclic voltammeter and chronoamperometry were used to determine the methanol oxidation activity and durability of these catalysts. The results show that the doping of the granular NiCo alloy carrier effectively improves the activity and anti-toxicity of the Pt/CNT catalyst for the methanol electrocatalytic oxidation reaction (MOR). It confirmed that the advantages of Pt/CNT@NiCo-g catalyst were attributed to a large specific surface area, abundant defects, and abundant oxides and hydroxides, which jointly promoted the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol.
