摘要

•This paper reveals both strain hardening and inertia effect of foam-filled tubes.•The mesoscopic deformation mechanism and compressive response are both studied.•A predictive model is built to predict the strain hardening of foam-filled tubes.•The shock wave theory is added to the model to consider the inertia effect.
