Patterns and predictors of perinatal posttraumatic stress symptoms: A latent transition analysis

•Four posttraumatic stress symptom classes emerged, varying by symptom clusters and severity.•Psychological IPV was linked to membership in higher severity symptom classes.•Women in the low prenatal symptom class remained in low symptom class at postpartum.•Women in high prenatal symptom classes moved into lower postpartum symptom classes.•Prenatal depression elevated risk of remaining in high symptom class over time.
