Cone-Beam CT-Guided Percutaneous Transgluteal Venous Sac Embolization in Type II Perirectal High-Flow Arteriovenous Malformations

Two patients with complex perirectal high-flow arteriovenous malformation (AVM) were treated with percutaneous transgluteal embolization. The institutional review board approved this study and waived the need for informed consent. Both perirectal AVMs were categorized as Type IIa AVMs with numerous feeding arteries and tortuously dilated single draining veins (1). Transvenous embolization was initially performed; however, complete obliteration of the AVMs was unsuccessful. Percutaneous direct transgluteal embolization of the AVM nidus was performed in each case, and a complete cure was achieved in both patients.
