Cleanup of Cd II from Water Media Using Y2O3@gC3N4 (YGCN) Nanocomposite

The sonication method effectively created a mesoporousY(2)O(3)@gC(3)N(4) (YGCN) with outstanding adsorption efficiency. XRD, BET, FESEM, HRTEM, XPS, and FTIR instruments were employed to evaluate manufactured nanomaterials' composition, crystalline phase, surface characteristics, chemical bonding, and morphological structure. In this work, the YGCN was applied as a nano-adsorbent to remove Cd II water media. According to the results of batch elimination experiments, Cd II removal onto the YGCN surface is pH-dependent, with maximal removal for cadmium contaminants occurring at pH = 7. A pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model fit the absorptive uptake of Cd II into the YGCN surface well. With a contact duration of 37 min, the maximal elimination capacity of the YGCN was estimated to be 45.66 mg/g. The studies showed that YGCN is a powerful adsorbent for eliminating Cd II from aqueous media.
