Cationic-potential tuned biphasic layered cathodes for stable desodiation/sodiation

Here we show that P2/O3 biphasic layered structure is originated from internal heterogeneity of “cationic potential” induced by locally compositional non-uniformity, which largely depends on the temperature-driven reaction thermodynamics and kinetics. The clarified material-formation mechanism enables facile design and preparation of P2/O3 biphasic materials with much-improved sodium-storage performances than single-phase one, promoting the exploration of advanced cathodes for sodium-ion batteries.
