ID:16365 High Density Spinal Cord Stimulation (HD-SCS) Increases Spinal Tissue Temperature
Neuromodulation(2022)
摘要
High density spinal cord stimulation (HD-SCS) delivers higher energy (charge per second) by increasing frequency and/or pulse width, thus increasing the duty cycle. Previously, we considered the role of tissue heating in 10 kHz-SCS and concluded that only average stimulation power (duty cycle) matters in spinal tissue heating. Here, we model HD-SCS and assessed “how much” temperature increases in the spinal cord by HD-SCS, the first step and essential step towards determining a novel heating based mechanism of action for HD-SCS. We hypothesized that HD-SCS increases spinal tissue temperature due to higher duty cycle.
