Predicting relapse from the time to remission during the acute treatment of depression: A re-analysis of the STAR*D data

•We investigated the association between time to remission and subsequent relapse.•1296 patients with depression who achieved remission with citalopram were analyzed.•Patients who remitted earlier are more likely to maintain remission in the long-term.•Close attention should be paid to those who require a long time to achieve remission.
