Bed Bug (cimex Spp.) Colonization of Human Host
JAAD case reports(2022)
摘要
MRSA: methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus INTRODUCTION The Cimex subspecies, colloquially known as bed bugs, include Cimex lectularius (the common bed bug) and Cimex hemipterus (the tropical bed bug). These nest-dwelling arthropods notoriously colonize mattress seams, cracks in bed frames, and wall crevices of homes and hotels. In contrast to the human louse and scabies mite, which spend nearly their entire life cycle on human skin, bed bugs do not typically colonize humans. Herein, we present a unique case of a male patient acting as a human host for a colony of bed bugs. Although the patient served as a harborage site, he did not exhibit any visible arthropodbites. We also outline an intervention used to eradicate the infestation.
