Micro response mechanism of mini MFC sensor performance to temperature and its applicability to actual wastewater

•The peak current and sensitivity are strongly affected by Temp.•The biosensor achieved most sensitive and accurate test at 35 °C.•The relative abundance of dominant exoelectrogens varied with temperature.•Low biomass (18.3 µm of thickness) still enables precise detection.•MFC sensor is sensitive to the content of acid and alcohol in wastewater.
