Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) secretes bioactive secretome that induces atrial fibrosis in rats. Fibrosis, mainly produced by activated fibroblasts, creates a substrate for atrial fibrillation (AF). Whether EAT secretome from AF patients activates human atrial fibroblasts, and through which components is unexplored.
