The Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department is a leading producer of African-American graduates in Computing with retention and graduation outcomes far exceeding the national average. This experience paper describes the partnerships, programs and activities conducted within the JCSU CSE department and how they collectively contribute to such positive impacts. It will provide an overview of how the College of STEM has applied the Engagement, Capacity, and Continuity (ECC) Trilogy framework. This paper also gives suggestions on how understanding its system of interdependency can improve outcomes.
