Unit Commitment using Particle Swarm Optimization on IEEE 39 Bus System

Optimization techniques are becoming more popular and primarily choosing in engineering fields for resolving the constrained problems. In power systems unit commitment is one of the complicated optimization challenge for network design and operation. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one such method for effectively resolving problem of unit commitment. In this work a population based global search PSO technique is implemented on IEEE 39 bus test system which consists of 10 generators to lower the total operating cost and generation scheduling.
