Lithium dendrites inhibition by regulating electrodeposition kinetics

•The relationship between Li electrodeposition kinetics and the Li dendrite growth behavior was studied.•Li deposition morphology is optimized by slow deposition kinetics.•Li||Li symmetrical cells in electrolyte with additive can stable cycle at extremely high currents.•Li||SPAN fell cells in electrolyte with additive showed a significantly improved performance.
