Optical response properties of some metal cluster supported host-guest systems

Metal clusters could unleash unprecedented nonlinear optical (NLO) properties from molecules. To this end, the superatom metal clusters represent a very promising candidate for tuning the optoelectronic properties of several host systems. Herein, we discuss the possibility of tuning the optoelectronic properties of model host systems such as grapheme nanoflake, BN-nanoflake, and octa acid cavitand due to the interaction with model superatom metal clusters. We show that due to the formation of [email protected] complexes in between the considered systems, interesting NLO response could be garnered. In addition, the light absorption properties of the host systems get tuned resulting in possibility of broadband optical absorbance. In this chapter, we discuss these aspects in detail.
