摘要
We have recently confirmed that a magnetron fed by a split cathode operates as well as when a solid cathode is applied. With a split cathode no microwave pulse shortening appears. We have also shown that a magnetron built from anode block segments separated by longitudinal slits, allows fast magnetic field penetration and does not influence the magnetron operation. This allows the use of a pulsed, much lower power system, to charge the coil supplying the required axial insulating magnetic field. The result is a compact light weight and repetitive system with considerably higher overall electrical efficiency. We present new experiments using our Linear Induction Accelerator as the magnetron power source.
