Exploring radiation therapist education and training

•The majority of radiation therapist education programmes in the survey cited their radiation therapy-specific content as only 10–15%.•There remains limited knowledge of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and its application, contrary to the aspiration of the free movement of radiation therapists in the European Union.•The obligation to conduct continuous professional education as radiation therapists varies widely across the globe.•70% of respondents use the title radiation therapist/RTT/radiation therapy technologist.
