Hydroponic System in a Controlled Atmosphere and Substrate: Case Study in Morocco

This paper presents an automated hydroponic system based on recirculating a nutrient solution for plant production. It shows that the optimization of the plant’s growth can be done through controlling the corresponding solution variables that are nutrients, pH, conductivity, and water temperature. In addition, it monitors the plant environment by using an automated greenhouse that allows the control of the lighting, the atmosphere temperature and humidity, and the CO2 levels. Finally, this paper considers a case study of lettuce plant in Morocco, using the suggested automated hydroponic system with its detailed cost and break-even analysis.
