摘要

•Defect-free SS-Al joint by interfacial doping with Al2O3.•Al grains refined up to ∼ 2 µm due to the presence of Al2O3.•FeAl, FeAl3, and Fe2Al5 intermetallics were noticed at the interface.•Presence of Al2O3 inhibited the growth of continuous intermetallics.•Maximum interfacial strength achieved up to ∼ 77.5 MPa.
