摘要
Rooftop-based hydroponics farming is a newly accredited approach as an emerging future with numerous amenities in enlightening cities' sustainability but fronting with numerous issues such as land diminishing, population explosion, industrialization, and rapid urbanization. In this study, four different condition criteria namely precipitation, land surface temperature, relative humidity, and LULC were deployed to detect the potentiality of rooftop-based hydroponics farming in the Kolkata region, India. A weighted overlay analysis was employed along with selected influencing factors for the estimation of hydroponics potential zone with the ArcGIS environment. In total 60.31% area of the region (109.84 km 2 ) was found under a high potentiality hydroponics farming. The validation accuracy of hydroponics farming was assessed using the AUROC validation approach with four machine learning algorithms. Support vector machine outperformed around 92% AUC for final hydroponics potential mapping. The methodology can be assumed for construction policies and plans for suitable sites for the hydroponics commercialization that should be supported in employment, food supply, and farmer’s income and can perceive the second sustainable development goal in urban planning.
