Design of Hybrid Energy System of CRH2 Train Passing Through Neutral Section

With the Power Electronics industry revolution, the high-Speed Railway industry is also upgraded to a very much great extent. After Hybrid Trams, now Fast Hybrid trains are the future of the traction industry. A neutral section is a powerless section that must be placed carefully to avoid speed loss and unexpected accidents. This paper presents a Hybrid Energy System (HES) based topology for Chinese fast Train CRH2 running on the “LANXIN” track to pass through a Neutral Section with HES based power to reduce the chances of speed loss and introduce flexibility for engineers to design Neutral sections even on hilly areas. Different speed profiles for a train passing through Neutral Section are analyzed for delay time analysis. Due to the presence of the Gobi Desert, harsh environmental conditions of the track’s location are kept under consideration using METEREONOERM software. Which also helped to verify the efficiency of MPPT method. HES contains Graphene-based Supercapacitors and PV modules (embedded on the train’s rooftop) to charge them. Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter-based topology with FOC-SVPWM control is utilized to efficiently control the traction motor’s torque. Proposed methodology proves with MATLAB simulation that HES topology can not only save time depending on the entering speed of the train at the Neutral section, but can also run the train for some time without any power to relocate the train on a secure position in case of power failure or an accident on track location.
