Experimental and modeling study of laser induced silicon carbide/graphene on cotton cloth for superhydrophobic applications

•A heat transfer theory is established to investigate the laser-induced photothermal conversion of SiC/LIG.•The SiC/LIG nanosheets are distributed around the CC fibers to form a core–shell structure.•The superhydrophobic SiC/LIG electrode shows a static contact angle of 152.4° ± 2.5° and a sliding angle of 7.7° ± 2.5°.
