摘要
ABSTR A C T Gut malrotation is usually diagnosed in infants or in young adults, with a variety of presentations that ranges from chronic unspecific symptoms to acute abdominis, with this latter being the most common one. Prompt surgical management is usually required since gut malrotation predis-pose to the development of intestinal volvuli with possible subsequent ischemia of the bowel. In this scenario, the acute presentation of intestinal malrotation in octogenarians is far more the late and rare type of presentation that this congenital condition can have, with a minority of cases reported in literature involving patients beyond 70 years old. Herein we report a case of an intestinal malrotation with acute presentation in an over 80-year-old patient in Southern Switzerland.
