Exploring the Composition Space of Wide Band-gap Absorbers for Silicon-Perovskite Tandems

Herein high throughput synthesis and characterization is used to analyze 60 unique perovskite compositions that could be incorporated in silicon-perovskite tandem devices. By analogy to advances made for single junction application, we focus our efforts on FAPbI3 based systems with MA/Cs substitution on the A-site and Br/CI incorporation on the X-site. The impact of these changes on the formation of the perovskite, halide incorporation, optoelectronic properties, photostability, and photovoltaic properties is investigated. These efforts unveil absorbers with promise for tandem partnering with silicon and provide a template for tailoring of individual perovskite compositions, with co-optimization of several relevant parameters, for high-performance perovskite-based tandem devices.
