•Multiwalled carbon nanotubes were used for the attachment of IgG from rabbit serum.•Optimization of IgG attachment on multiwalled carbon nanotubes.•IgG attachment yields of 100% were attained.•IgG reactive N-terms were identified.•Orientation of the IgG on MWCNTs was described as “end-on”.
