•First nationwide study quantified burden of urolithiasis due to heat stress.•Wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) was applied to evaluate heat stress.•The middle-aged and elderly group (≥45 y) had a higher risk of urolithiasis attack.•Climate change would substantially exacerbate the burden of urolithiasis.
