A Technique to Identify Technical Measures Designed to Ensure Environmentally Safe Management in Populated Areas in Ukraine

The paper describes a technique for identifying appropriate environmental technology options for populated areas. It assesses the relative significance of some factors influencing the implementation of environmental technology options using the analytic hierarchy process as a basis for environmental management and monitoring. It considers key components of the technique, focusing on the objective, comparative assessment process, estimation process and analysis, and characterises the relationships among the adjacent levels and their entities in the hierarchy. The paper demonstrates that the use of systemic analysis helps reduce the likelihood of making bad decisions.
