Finger Pad Deformation Under Torsion

The deformation of finger pad skin in contact with a glass plate is measured during the onset of slip created by a rotating motion. Similar to the case of a translating stimulus, slip starts at the contact periphery before propagating inwards, giving rise to local strains. We characterized the evolution of the contact and the propagating slip front.
