摘要
Understanding low-dimensional quantum materials is important both in fundamental research and technological applications. One goal is to understand their structural and electronic phase diagrams in a multi-parameter phase space involving variation of several control parameters. Here, we examine the response of the charge density wave (CDW) material 1T-TaS2 to molecular intercalation with triethylenediamine (TED, C6H12N2) followed by application of hydrostatic pressure. Significant modifications in the CDW structure are observed in the pressurized TaS2-TED intercalation complex. This is characterized by changes in CDW modulation wavelength and a decrease in CDW longrange order. In addition, molecular electron-energy-loss spectra (EELS) reveal changes in the TED molecular structure as a result of pressure application. EELS spectra also show that changes in the molecular structure are more likely than changes in the orientation of the molecules within the van der Waals gap. Combining pressure and intercalation shows a way to create organic-inorganic hybrid structures with properties different from the individual components.
