Dual-mode control of hypersonic vehicles

This paper presents a dual-mode attitude controller for air-breathing hypersonic vehicles, which strategically switches between cruising and maneuvering modes. Each mode designs a neural inversion to partly decouple attitude dynamics having actuator transient behaviors and magnitude-rate constraints. As a direct benefit, the inverse algorithm for the most-frequently-used cruising mode becomes low-complexity. Aiming at decoupled attitude channels, an enhanced inner-loop controller is proposed to accommodate uncertain modeling, imprecise decoupling and nonzero allocating. In especial, its self-initializing mechanism eliminates fluctuations aroused by mode changes. The dual-mode attitude controller is further integrated with guidance and scramjet control modules to form a general six-degrees-of-freedom control system.
