Manuscripts should follow the guidelines for “Original Research Articles” in the “For Authors” webpage for Zebrafish (www.liebertpub.com/zeb), although authors may choose to combine the Results and Discussion sections. For manuscripts describing work at the K-12 or undergraduate level, please describe the specific learning objectives of the project. The Results section should include results of laboratory experiments (if applicable) as well as assessment of student learning. One of the goals of this special issue is to make innovative methods of science education reform as widely available as possible and to provide a venue for sharing successful teaching strategies and tools of assessment that utilize zebrafish. We therefore appreciate inclusion of detailed laboratory protocols where applicable. If authors submit detailed protocols, instructor manuals, or other related information, please include these as Supplemental Data.Scientific papers authored by K-12 or undergraduate students on their original research utilizing zebrafish. In addition to following the guidelines for “Original Research Articles,” manuscripts in this category should include an “Author Contributions” section that gives a short biography of each author. This description should include their science and educational background and their contributions to the manuscript and research. Editors and reviewers will take the level of education of the submitting authors into consideration during the review process. With regard to younger student scientist contributors, the format and language should be appropriate to the developmental writing level of the author(s). Our review team will work with student teams (and teachers) to polish interesting and/or novel student-driven, scientific work. Methods papers describing techniques, protocols, or tools related to education. Manuscripts should follow the guidelines for a “Protocol” manuscript. These manuscripts could focus on a wide range of methods, such as surveys used to assess the effectiveness of educational activities or programs, methods for setting up and running a zebrafish system in an educational setting, protocols adapted for use by undergraduate students, etc.Conference Abstracts. Conference abstracts from any recent international, national, or regional meetings (beginning from the June 2022 IZFS meeting until submission deadline) are welcome for submission. Abstracts should be either about education or presented and first authored by K-12 or undergraduate students and should pertain to zebrafish or other aquatic species. Please note that abstracts must be directly submitted to Zebrafish for consideration for the Special Issue. Please submit completed abstracts with author lists and affiliations, as well as the conference the work was presented at, the conference date and location.Design your own format. If none of these formats fit your submission idea, we encourage you to create your own format. We encourage the use of unconventional formats, such as videos, commentaries and podcasts.
