A high-efficiency solar water evaporation-photocatalysis system achieved by manipulating surface wettability and constructing heterojunction

•A heterogeneous solar absorber composed of In2S3-modified MoS2 nanosheet arrays was constructed.•The heterogeneous nature improved the performance of solar water evaporation-photocatalysis systems.•A 4.2-fold enhancement in photocatalysis was achieved without compromising on solar-driven water evaporation.
