Circular saw core localization in the quenching process using machine vision

•This paper developed a circular saw core localization system using machine vision.•A perspective transformation method is applied to transform the captured oblique view image into a vertical view image.•The Hough transform is used to detect the center of the circular saw.•Maximum overlapping region algorithm is used to obtain the accurate position of the circular saw on the quench platen.
