•ZnO-TiO2-rGO nanocomposite was fabricated by laser ablation in liquid.•The synthesis was accomplished in 30 min.•Various characterization techniques confirm the formation of the nanocomposites.•The nanocatalysts demonstrate excellent photodegradation of methylene blue.
