A first wind tunnel study on the aeolian sand transport of coral sands

•We conduct the first wind tunnel experiment on coral sand transport by wind.•Coral sands have the same flux profile shape but a higher decay rate than quartz sands.•The decay rate of the flux profile of coarse coral sand increase with wind speed.•The large size and irregular shape increase threshold wind speed of coral sands.
