摘要

•Foamy-oil flow under reservoir conditions is observed in a CSI laboratory test.•Foamy-oil flows intermittently instead of continuously as pressure declines.•A new theory is established to predict the foamy-oil flow patterns.•Larger diffusivity and faster pressure drop leads to more waves of foamy-oil flow.
