摘要
Objective: Gastric cancer is the sixth most common and third most common cause of cancer death. While 1,033,701 (5.7%) cases were seen among all cancers in 2018, 782,685 (8.2%) deaths due to cancer were observed among all cancers. In our study, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of primary tumor localization in patients with locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 90 patient data were found suitable for evaluation. The patients were divided into two groups as cardia and non-cardia according to the primary tumor location. Groups were evaluated in terms of disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: The median DFS was 34.9 months in the cardia group and 11.3 months in the non-cardia group. This value was statistically significant. (34.9 vs 11.3 months, p = 0.008). While the median OS was not reached at the time of analysis in the cardia group, it was 21.7 months in the non-cardia group. This value was also statistically significant. (NR vs 21.7 months, p <0.001). Median DFS and OS were significantly longer in the cardia group than in the non-cardia group. Discussion: In our study, patients with cardia tumors with similar baseline characteristics, similar clinical stages, and receiving the same neoadjuvant chemotherapy had worse survival compared to patients with non-cardia tumors.
