摘要
The contribution presents a tectonic map of the pre-Cenozoic basement of the eastern part of the Danube Basin. The territory covers the area of Slovakia from the state border with Hungary to N48°30´ latitude and between E18°00´ ‒ E19°00´ longitude. The tectonic units of the Transdanubicum and the units of the Internal Western Carpathians participate in the geological structure of the pre-Cenozoic basement. The Internal Western Carpathian units are represented by the Tatricum, Northern and Southern Veporicum, Hronicum and Vernaricum. Occurrence of the Hronicum is significantly specific by the large extent of the Ipoltica Group in pre-Cenozoic basement. The presence of the Vernaricum indicates the continuation of the complex geological structure characterized by the tectonic imbrications of the northern Veporic, Fatric, Hronic and Vernaric rock sequences from the area of the Hron synclinory. The oldest faults (Oligocene ‒ Early Miocene) are oriented in the NW ‒ SE direction in the eastern part of the Danube Basin. However, the main tectonic activity (Middle Miocene ‒ Pliocene) is associated with faults in the NE ‒ SW direction. In the recent stress field, faults of the NW ‒ SE direction are active. The Hurbanovo Fault has a specific position in tectonics of the eastern part of the Danube Basin because separates the Western Carpathians and Transdanubicum tectonic units. The paper provides essential information about the distribution of tectonic units in pre-Cenozoic basement. It can serve as a decision-making platform for designing facilities for drinking water or geothermal resources exploitation.
