Impact effects of digital technology application on quality tourism development: empirical evidence from china

Under the all-around, multi-angle, and whole-chain transformation and innovation of digital technology in the cultural tourism industry, new products and new business models of the cultural tourism industry promote the continuous integration of industry boundaries and the cultural tourism industry users in a new era of digital cultural tourism development. To effectively understand the importance of digital technology application to the high-quality development of the cultural tourism industry, using the time series data of China from 2003-2019, vector autoregressive model, the dynamic relationship between the development of digital technology change and the tourism industry was analysed. Moreover, the impact effect of digital technology application on the high-quality development of the tourism industry was revealed. Results show that digital technology application has a long-term impact on the development of the tourism industry; the rapid development of mobile Internet and the increase of the degree of informativeness greatly affect the scale of the tourism industry. The development of the Internet plays a mediating effect in the relationship between digital industrialization and the high-quality development of the tourism industry. Digital technology application in the tourism industry has much room for development. The findings of this study help promote the institutional innovation and mechanism improvement of digital transformation of the digital technology-enabled tourism industry with high-quality development and provide a reference for promoting digital transformation of the tourism industry.
